Presentation

The Complutense University of Madrid (UCM) is an institution with a long history and broad social recognition.

The UCM aspires to be among the foremost universities in Europe, being a reference centre for Latin America. It is the biggest university in Spain, with around 80.000 students and 6.000 teaching and research staff. The UCM is focused on developing excellence based on wide networks of quality groups, on boosting emerging groups, and on incorporating young researchers. The intensification of relations with society and with the productive environment is a priority of UCM. The Interdisciplinary Mathematics Institute (IMI) is a research institute of UCM whose aim is convert the research in Mathematics into a cross-cutting axis of multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary research in science and engineering. DEC-HUMLOG (Decision Aid Models and Data Science for Disaster Logistics, Sustainability and Social Analysis) is one of its programs developed mainly by the group HUMLOG.

Role in the project

UCM-HUMLOG will develop data-driven optimisation models facing wildfires. This group will develop GIS probabilistic models from information provided by UAVs and UGVs to estimate actual state of wildfires, and will provide fire spread scenarios and recommendations for fire suppression and life and assets protection. Their results will be shown on a visual tool. Additionally, UCM-HUMLOG is the WP5 coordinator.
